<p>India’s football legend Sailendra Nath Manna, popularly known as Sailen Manna, died at a private hospital here Monday. He was 87, family sources said.<br /><br /></p>.<p>He was admitted to the AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake, around 11 p.m. Sunday. The end came about two hours later at 1.55 a.m. Monday.<br /><br />He died due to old age complications and leaves behind his wife and daughter.<br />Rated as one of the best defenders the country has ever produced, Manna was adjudged country’s footballer of the millennium by the All India Football Federation in 2000.<br /><br />He led India to the gold in the inaugural Asian Games in New Delhi and also captained the country in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and the 1954 Manila Asian Games.</p>
