Nikhil Poojary likely to return in Bengaluru FC's last match

Bengaluru FC find themselves in an interesting position in their last match of the Indian Super League on Saturday as they travel to neighbouring state Tamil Nadu to take on Chennaiyin FC at the Marina Arena.

A victory in the early kick-off (slated at 5.00 pm) against the struggling Chennaiyin FC will take them to the top of the table. However, the three points, if ensured, will only give them a glimmer of hope to win the title as the two Kolkata giants, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, will be just a point behind with two matches in their hands each. 

Coach Pep Munoz, who finally tasted his maiden win with the club last week in a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Jamshedpur FC, had something further to cheer about as the team's star right-back Nikhil Poojary was expected to see some game time as he looked desperate to prove his fitness with a national team call-up for the Unity Cup in London at the end of the month. 

The Spaniard revealed during the pre-match press conference that the full-back's inclusion into the squad for Chennai trip remains subject to him clearing the last full training session. Namgyal Bhutia is likely to start at the right back position in the game, irrespective of the outcome.

With little at stake in the match, Bengaluru FC will like to claim some bragging rights of defeating southern rivals in the season, especially after a shock defeat to Kerala Blasters earlier in the season. 

Similar to KBFC at that time, Chennaiyin FC lie just one spot above bottom dwellers with just nine points in 12 matches. However, a poor show by bottom-placed Mohammedan SC (3 points) keeps them away from relegation.
