<p>Bengaluru: Promising young City footballer Ronald Ernest D’Grassa passed away at the age of just 10 after succumbing to Encephalitis Herniation at a local hospital here on Wednesday.</p>.<p>D’Grassa, who joined Bengaluru FC academy last year and competed in the KSFA Youth Premier League U-11 tournament this year for the club, was hit by a viral fever last week. On Saturday, the Frank Anthony Public School student collapsed after which he was rushed to the hospital.</p>.<p>According to his father Donald D’Grassa, who works as an auditor for a private firm, the hospital had to put him in an induced coma for treatment but, after a strong fight, his son breathed his last on Wednesday morning.</p>.<p>“The hospital did every possible test to determine the exact nature of the virus but everything turned out to be negative. There are millions of viruses and one of them took away my little one’s life. He had big dreams in his mind and through his talent and performances, I made a lot of friends. He was a very popular kid at the academy and school."</p>.<p>BFC condoled the shock demise with a post on X.</p>.<p>“The BFC family is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of its U11 Academy player, Ronald Ernest D’Grassa. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones in this moment of grief. May his soul rest in peace.” </p>.<p>The Karnataka State Football Association and the Bangalore District Football Association also expressed their grief.</p>
