Ladjadj Stephane-steered Hatsuhana, trained by Neil Darashah, edged out Aristos for the VT Velu Memorial Cup over seven furlongs, the plum event of the penultimate day’s races of the Bangalore Summer Season.
After the eleven-race card, PS Chouhan, who did not ride on Thursday and is not scheduled to ride on Friday, held his lead in the jockey’s championship with 24 victories. Stephane, who booted home one winner, is second with 18 wins followed by S John with 16.
The race for the Trainers championship is much closer with Neil Darashah and Arjun Mangalorkar locked at 17 wins each going into the final day on Friday. Irfan Ghatala, who had two victories on Thursday, is third with 16.
