The 2019 season of the IPL in numbers

Last Updated 18 April 2019, 12:01 IST

The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League has well and truly infiltrated into the strenuous stages, and it is safe to say that we have been blessed with T20 cricket of the largest degree.

From the huge sixes, game-changing spells, moments of brilliance on the field and a few anti-climax clips along with controversial events, this season has seen it all.

Each side has played eight to nine fixtures, with CSK leading the charts. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, who are on 10 points each from their eight matches thus far, are presently the frontrunners for the second spot.

Every side is in contention for the top four spots except Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are fighting for pride and not the trophy. This clearly underpins the quality and competitive spirit of each franchise.

There's been major value for all the activity around the 22 yards, but numbers have enveloped, and more or less, defined this season and the records surrounding it significantly.

Here are all the statistics you need to know with just over half the season done and dusted.

(Note: These statistics and numbers hold true as of the match played between SRH and CSK on April 17, 2019.)

En route to his half-century against KXIP on April 13, Virat Kohli became the highest Indian run-getter in T20 cricket, surpassing Suresh Raina. It took him 48 innings lesser than the southpaw to achieve the feat.

With the victory against RR on April 11, MS Dhoni won his 100th IPL game as captain. He also has most wins by a captain in this tournament.

Arshdeep Singh and Mujeeb ur Rahman, whose combined age is 38 years 89 days, became the youngest new ball bowling pair in this season's IPL during their team's victory against RR.

No player has lost more IPL matches than Robin Uthappa and Virat Kohli - with both having ended up on the wrong side of the result on 88 occasions.

David Warner, in his innings of 50 against CSK, surpassed 3,000 runs for SRH in IPL. He has done so in just 67 innings, courtesy of 31 half-centuries and two hundreds.

Dinesh Karthik has missed the fewest number of games in the IPL for whichever team he has played. He last missed a match during the 2008 season while playing for the now-defunct DD (among the players who played all the IPL seasons thus far).

No team this season has conceded more sixes than Mumbai Indians - 64

With his four-wicket haul against KKR on April 14, Imran Tahir became the leading wicket-taker in the IPL after the age of 35, leapfrogging Muttiah Muralitharan's tally of 63 wickets.

On April 13 against Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians became the first team to play 200 T20 matches.
