<p>Bengaluru: The absence of top stars and the familiarity of home conditions helped Karnataka athletes pick up a handful of medals at the Indian Open Athletics Meeting (IOAM) here at the Sree Kanteerava stadium on Saturday. </p>.<p>While Ambika V made the first mark by finishing first in the women’s shot put with an effort of 14.14 meters, quartermiler Vijayakumari GK clocked 53.34 seconds to claim top honours in the women’s 400m race. </p>.<p>Champions at the state meet last week, Aryan Manoj took the second spot (10.62s) in the men’s 100m while Abhin Devadiga finished with the third best time (21.28s) in the 200m.
