Karnataka's Prithviraj clinches gold

Karnataka's Prithviraj Deshmukh clinched the Rink Race III-300M boys' 12-14 years event gold in impressive fashion on the opening day of the 49th National Speed Roller Skating championships here at the BBMP Skating Rink on Tuesday.

Prithviraj claimed the gold with a timing of 28.97 seconds while Andhra Pradesh's Abdul Khan took silver after clocking 29.15. Delhi’s Raghav Sachdev settled following his 29.45 show.

In the 10-12 years category, Aaditya S Rao of Karnataka won the gold with a timing 30.04 while MV Vignesh of Tamil Nadu finished runner-up at 30.24 and K Chaitanya Kumar of Andhra Pradesh bagged the bronze with a timing 30.51.

In the girls' above 16 years Rink III 300M race, Srishty of Tamil Nadu pocketed the yellow metal with a timing of 29.87. Karnataka's Varsha Puranik took at 30.02 while Manasi Bhide of Maharashtra was third at 30.42.

The same race in the girls' 14-16 years age group saw Deepali Naik of Maharashtra winning the gold clocking 30.81. Gujarat's Aashini Shah grabbed the silver with a timing of 31.22 and Shivani Shetty of Maharashtra had to be content with the bronze at 31.38.  In the girls above 16 point-to-point 10,000 metre race, Karnataka’s Pragna HA bagged the gold medal. Gujarat’s Barkha took silver while Kanikha won the bronze.

In the 12-14 years section, Pooja Patel of Gujarat was the gold medal winner with a timing of 30.40 while Seeliya Simmith of Karnataka was a distant second at 30.70 and Gujarat's Rutvi Amin took home the bronze at 31.27.
