Khadiwale, Bawne spur Maharashtra

Day one’s play in the other semifinal between Kerala and Hyderabad at the CPT-IP grounds was called off without a ball being bowled due to a soggy outfield. The match will be played as a 50-over affair.

The Maharashtra-Mumbai commenced an hour late due to a wet outfield owing to overnight rain. Opting to bat, Maharashtra stumbled to 95 for three in 24.2 overs but opener Khadiwale, who added 60 for the first wicket Chirag Khurana, stood his ground and consolidated ther innings.

Chirag was run out for 24, after which Maharashtra lost Rohit Motwani (4) and Prayag Bhatti (3) cheaply. Khadiwale and Bawne joined hands to put on 206 for the fourth wicket in 293 deliveries before Khadiwale was was adjudged leg before to medium-pacer Kshemal Waingankar for 148 (298m, 231b, 13x4, 3x6). Bawne was dismissed for an even 100 (183m, 162b, 6x4, 3x6). 

Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh was the chief wicket-taker with four for 124.
