A special moment for Vinay

Moments before he could achieve yet another milestone in his illustrious career, Karnataka skipper R Vinay Kumar received a special gesture from his team.

The veteran, who turned out for his 100th Ranji Trophy game for Karnataka here against Vidarbha, was presented a jersey signed by all his team-mates and coaching staff in the morning. The chairman of selectors of senior team, Raghuram Bhatt, presented the jersey to the 34-year-old in the presence of the team before the start of play.

The celebrations didn’t end there as the team threw a party for Vinay at the their hotel in the evening. All the members gathered for a cake-cutting ceremony and the skipper was gifted a huge collage frame. It had photographs of Vinay’s best sporting moments like the Ranji, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Irani Cup trophies he won as the Karnataka skipper in the recent past.

“The evening party was a surprise for him (Vinay) and he was taken aback. He enjoyed the gesture and was happy to see the gifts,” said team manager Anutosh Poll.

Vinay, who has managed to take just one wicket so far in his special game, will be hoping to give his best and help Karnataka collect full points from their campaigner opener.
