The elections to the State Assembly have had an impact on the racing activities at the Bangalore Turf Club.

The BTC chairman Harimohan Naidu said the club received a letter from the Karnataka State Police on Saturday in which the BTC was asked to postpone the Summer meeting by a week.

It is learnt that the police has told the club that it would be tough for it to provide security on race days till the counting is over. The counting of votes is scheduled for Tuesday.

Consequently, the first race day of the summer meeting, which was to be held on Sunday, will now be on May 19.
