<p>Karnataka’s Vasisht Cherku and R Abhinikka of Tamil Nadu have been given top billing in the boys and girls’ singles sections of the KTPPA-AITA National Series under-16 tennis championship.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The event gets underway at the KSLTA stadium and Mahila Seva Samaja courts here on Monday. <br /><br />Uttarakhand’s Mayuk Rawat, Ishaque Eqbal of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh’s Raghav Jaisinghani and PC Anirudh of Andhra Pradesh will be Vasisht’s main challengers. <br /><br />National under-16 champion BR Nikshep of Karnataka will be missing from action as he is committed to play elsewhere during the period. <br /><br />In the girls section, Abhinikka, who has a national ranking of No 7, will be the favourite to win the title but will be challenged by National School Games winner and third seed S Soha of Karnataka. <br /><br />The other local hopefuls are Vignesh Subramanya in the boys’ section and Nisha Shenoy in the girls’ section.<br /><br />KTPPA anniversary<br /><br />The Karnataka Tennis Players Parents Association (KTPPA) celebrated its first anniversary at the KSLTA stadium on Sunday at the inauguration of its second tournament of the season.<br /><br />Besides conducting more events in 2014, KTPPA also plans to pick talented kids for tours abroad.<br /><br />Seedings: <br /><br />Boys: 1-Vasisht Cheruku (Kar); 2-MayukRawat (Ukd); 3-Ishaque Eqbal (WB); 4-Raghav Jaisinghani (MP); 5-PC Anirudh (AP); 6-Yugal Bansal (Del); 7-Sunmitpal Singh (J&K); 8-Vignesh Subramanya (Kar).<br /><br />Girls: 1-R Abinikka (TN); 2-Harsha Sai Challa (AP); 3-S Soha (Kar); 4-Rishika Ravi (TN); 5-Baani Singh (Pnb); 6-Muskaan Ranjan (Kar); 7-Kaaviya B (TN); 8-Nisha Shenoy (Kar).<br /></p>
