1,257 quintals of pulses seized in Tumakuru

Officials of Food and Civil Supplies department, during the raids conducted in last four days, have seized 1,257 quintals of pulses stored illegally at eight shops and godowns in the city limits.

During the raids conducted at RM Traders in APMC, a godown belonging to Future Group at Food Park in Vasanthanarasapur and severl godowns and shops at Mandipet in the last four days, the officials have seized 465 quintals of tur dal, 263 quintal of black gram, 376 quintals of Bengal gram, 15 quintals of green gram (whole), 78 quintals of green gram and 57 quintals of groundnut, said Manteswamy, deputy director of Department of Food and Civil Supplies.

The retailers and the wholesale merchants dealing in pulses should take license from deputy commissioner and tahsildars of respective taluks, the official said.
