2 Bengaluru students among top 5 CET rank holders

Two of the top five rank holders in the engineering stream of Common Entrance Test (CET) hail from Bengaluru. The results of CET were announced on Friday.

Aneeta James, a student of National Public School, Indiranagar secured fifth rank in engineering and second rank in BPharm and PharmD. She said that regular studies helped her ace the exams.

Aneeta wishes to pursue engineering in Computer Science. She has secured 1,111 rank in JEE Mains. She has also learnt Carnatic vocal.

Among the high scorers are Tuhin Girinath, son of senior IAS officer Tushar Girinath. "My preparations involved studying for 10 to 12 hours a day. My school offered integrated training," he said. Tuhin, a student of Narayana E Techno School, Kundanahalli, has secured fourth rank in engineering and first in BPharm and PharmD. Tuhin secured 65th rank in JEE Mains and has appeared for JEE Advanced Mains.

"I mostly concentrated on concepts. After solving problems, I used to study concepts again. Asking doubts in class helped. There was no pressure from the family to perform. There was peer pressure. Most students performed well. When we start reading, we automatically gain confidence," he added. He hopes to pursue engineering.

Mahima Krishna, a student of VVS Sardar Patel PU College has secured third rank in BSc Agriculture and 35th rank in engineering. A medical aspirant, she said she would wait for NEET results before deciding on her options. "Alternatively, pure science would be another option. I am interested in biotechnology," she said.

"It has been a childhood dream to be a doctor. There are none in the family and I want to help the needy," she said.

Among the other toppers from the city are Adithya Chidananda Eshwarla from Sri Kumaran Children's Home and M Yogesh Madhava Reddy from Narayana E Techno School, Whitefield.
