Two men were found dead under mysterious circumstances in the ward of a private hospital in the City on Saturday.  The deceased have been identified as Nandeesh (32) of Atna village in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk and Gangaraju (35), a resident of Adalapura village in Gubbi taluk.

According to police, Nandeesh is a lorry driver by profession. He had brought his wife Shobha for delivery to Akshay Hospital on Friday morning. She gave birth to a baby boy in the noon. On Friday night, Nandeesh, Gangaraju (Shobha’s cousin) and other relatives had food at the hospital. The food was brought from a relative’s house in Tumakuru. Both men later went to sleep at a ward in the ground floor of the hospital.

On Saturday morning, the relatives of the two men, who were accompanying Shobha, came to the ward and tried to wake them up. But there was no response. The staff at the hospital immediately shifted them to Vinayaka Hospital by an ambulance where they were declared dead.

Heavy rain coupled with thunder and lightning lashed Tumakuru throughout night. The two had slept near a window and it is being suspected that they might have died of lightning. Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy said that the exact reason for the deaths was yet to be ascertained and Forensic report would throw more light on the cause of death.
