Three persons who were returning home after taking part in a procession for filing nomination papers were killed on the spot after the vehicle they were travelling hit a tree on the road side near Hunasaghatta Gate on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Anjanappa (35), Anand (35) and Suresh (45), all residents of Jaladhihalli near Ajjampura. Five more passengers in the vehicle sustained grievous injuries in the accident.
All the eight had been to Tarikere for taking part in the nomination-filing procession of the BJP candidate. Local people said that all the deceased were agricultural labourers.
Town police have registered a case.
