4 Indira canteens in Tumakuru from January

The Indira canteen scheme that was launched by the state government for all 198 wards of Bengaluru, will be expanded to Tumakuru city as well. Official sources revealed that in the first phase, four Indira canteens will be set up Tumakuru.

The Tumakuru Mahanagara Palike has identified four busy locations for setting up these eateries. Officials say that a large number of industrial workers commute from Tumakuru to Bengaluru and Indira Canteens will be of immense benefit for them.

It has been proposed to set up the canteens on the premises of Tumakuru Mahanagara Palike office, Gubbi Gate, Kanaka Circle and Kyatsandra. MLA Rafiq Ahmed told DH that these Indira Canteens were expected to be functional from January 2018.
