5 techies die in Belgaum road mishap

The techies, who worked for Infosys, were on their way to Pune to report for duty.
The dead were identified as Agnivesh, Ankita, Tushar Agarwal, Kush Mishra and Rachit Mehrotra, all in their early twenties. The speeding bus tripped while negotiating a sharp curve near Shippur Cross. Four techies were killed on the spot and one died of injuries on the way to hospital.

 As many as 45 software engineers in their early 20s, who completed a six-month training course at the Infosys facility in Mysore, were proceeding to Pune to report for duty. The company had chartered the bus.

The injured techies have been identified as Kartik K B (22), Sandeepkumar Pandey (22), Mohitkumar Birjpal (23), Kumareshan P (21) from Chennai, Sandeep Bashak (25), Mohammed Tahir Gaffar Hussain (20) from Tamil Nadu, Amankumar Singh (23), Apoorva Selvarajan (22), Aditya Omprakash Geera (22) from New Delhi, Narayansingh Bhati (25) from Jodhpur, Soma Mandal (24) and Ankur Madnani (24) from Kanpur.

Infosys said in a statement that support teams were on the way to the accident site to provide support to the employees and their families.

Transport Minister R Ashok announced a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh for the deceased.
