Close to 7,000 drivers from four divisions of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) have applied for one-time transfer with nearly half of them opting out of BMTC.
Officials in the KSRTC, who are handling the issue, said they had received 6,732 applications so far and expect them to go up in the days to come.
Another 376 applications lack proper information and are pending.
About 3,310 employees from BMTC, 2,164 from KSRTC, 473 from NEKRTC and 409 from NWKRTC have applied for the transfer.
