According to railway officials, a link had severed because of the cold. On noticing the problem, the officials stopped Tirupati Fast Passenger at Maddur railway station and immediate repair work was carried out. Later, the train left for Mysore.
Ruling out sabotage, the railway official said such incidents occur during winter due to variations in temperature.
