The City police on Friday traced a new born baby boy that was stolen from Vani Vilas Hospital on December 20, by arresting two women.

According to sources, one of the arrested is Prema Mary,  a resident of Bannerghatta. Mary and her husband Anthony.  The couple is into chit fund business and have a daughter.

Anthony was reportedly insistent on a son while Mary had repeated miscarriages.
It is said Mary had a miscarriage recently, but had kept her husband in the dark. Subsequently, she quarrelled with Anthony and left to her parent’s house.

On December 20, she got herself admitted to Vani Vilas Hospital over a small ailment and made away with the new born baby boy from the hospital. Jacob, a relative of Mary, had accidentally met her at the hospital.

Tiff in the family

Soon after that, Mary went to a hospital in Jayanagar where she is said to have had a prior understanding, and faked a child birth.

However, Jacob raised suspicion and this led to a tiff in the family.
One of the sub-inspectors attached to the Victoria Hospital Police Station, who hails from Bannerghatta got a wind of the dispute and, further investigation confirmed that the baby in Prema’s custody was the one stolen from Vani Vilas Hospital.

While senior police officials were not available for comment, Manjunath, the biological father of the baby told Deccan Herald that the police have handed over the baby to him Friday evening.
