JOIN USBJP MP B Sreeramulu voted in favour of Congress candidate G Venkataramana in the mayoral elections held here on Wednesday.
Sreeramulu, who exercised his franchise along with Congress legislators Allum Veerabhadrappa, Anil Lad, N Y Gopalakrishna and K C Kondaiah defended his stand.
“I support the Congress faction from which Venkataramana has been elected. I voted in his favour as people should not be troubled due to the differences between corporators. The development of the city has been affected for the last three years. Now, water is being supplied once in 20 days," he said.
When asked why did he vote for Congress being in BJP, Sreeramulu said politics is not stagnant water. “The city corporation has failed on many fronts. The aim here is to set them right. This not opportunistic politics,” he claimed.
Venkataramana was elected as the mayor and Umadevi was elected as the deputy mayor.
