BJP's bid to counter 'Bellary chalo'

At the same time, the BJP has prevailed upon the Bellary ministers to drop their plans of venturing out on a padayatra from Bellary to Mysore.

BJP State President K S Eshwarappa told reporters in Bangalore that the achievements of the BJP government during the last two years and the anti-people stand of the opposition will be showcased at each convention. 

While the first convention will be held at Davangere on August 2, the series will at conclude at Bellary on August 20. The Gulbarga convention will be held on August 5, while the Mysore convention is scheduled to be held on August 12.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the ‘godmother’ of the Bellary ministers Sushma Swaraj will be attending the concluding convention at Bellary, which the party plans to hold on a massive scale.

Sriramulu, who was present at the press conference, said that he had announced the counter-padayatra at the spur of moment hurt by the diatribe by Congress leader Siddaramaiah against him. However, he was now convinced that holding conventions was a better proposition.

Party sources said that it took some for senior party leader to persuade the Bellary Reddys to drop the padayatra plans, who reluctantly agreed.
