BSY chides CM over anti-corruption manifesto promise

Last Updated 01 May 2018, 09:22 IST

State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa chided Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on one of the promises in the Congress manifesto which says that Lokayukta would be strengthened.

He pointed out that it was Siddaramaiah who had weakened the Lokayukta in the first place, by establishing the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) five years ago.

Recalling Siddaramaiah's jibe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are outsiders, Yeddyurappa quipped: "Are Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi Siddaramaiah's cousins? (Rahul nim chikkappana magana, Sonia nim Athe magala?)".

He also attempted to rekindle the Lingayat-Veerashaiva issue stating Siddaramaiah had resorted to divisive politics for electoral gain.
