Crop loan waiver within 48 hours of forming govt: BSY

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said he would waive crop loans availed from nationalised banks up to Rs one lakh within 48 hours of assuming office as the chief minister.

In an interaction with reporters here on Sunday, Yeddyurappa expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power with full majority in the polls.

“If I am not able to fulfil my promise of loan waiver, I will resign and go,” the BJP leader said. In 2008, the party had fallen short of majority and hence there were problems in running the government, he said.

On tickets being given to the Reddy brothers, Yeddyurappa said G Janardhan Reddy had sought a ticket. However, ticket was given to G Somashekara Reddy as the charges of illegal mining against him had not been proven. “It is the Congress which is answerable as it has given tickets to Anand Singh and B Nagendra against whom cases of illegal mining are still pending,” he said.

Yeddyurappa said the Congress was a divided house with differences of opinion among party leaders Siddaramaiah, Mallikarjun Kharge and G Parameshwara.

He took exception to Siddaramaiah branding him “corrupt”. “I have been acquitted by the courts in most of the cases. He has no right to call me corrupt.”
