BSY, Eshwarappa rift reaches Arun Jaitley

Last Updated 22 May 2009, 17:59 IST

It is an open secret that Minister K S Eshwarappa is cut up with Yeddyurappa. The Minister, who is also from Shimoga, is waging a cold war against the CM for various reasons. At least half-a-dozen MLAs are supporting Eshwarappa though none of them have so far openly revolted against the CM.

On Thursday, before Jaitley left the venue where the BJP Legislature Party meeting was held in Bangalore, Eshwarappa had a one-to-one talk with him for about 15 minutes.
During the meeting, the Minister told Jaitley that Karnataka should not be allowed to turn into another Uttar Pradesh. In UP, some years ago, the BJP under the chief ministership of Kalyan Singh, was performing well. But UP went out of the hands of the BJP mainly because of Kalyan Singh. Before Karnataka becomes another UP, the party national leaders should intervene, Eshwarappa reportedly requested Jaitley.

Sources also said that Eshwarappa and others are upsetover many developments including Minister Shobha Karandlaje reportedly calling the shots on behalf of the CM. Jaitley is learnt to have told Eshwarappa that the Delhi leaders are aware of the happenings in Karnataka and appropriate action would be taken in near future.

When contacted, Eshwarappa admitted that he had a meeting with Jaitley. “We are all making efforts to strengthen the organisation and nothing else. Soon the party national leaders will call for a meeting,” was all the minister said.
