Former chief minister and BJP National Vice President B S Yeddyurappa had to face the ire of Action Committee for IIT in Raichur, during his visit to Sindhanur on Friday.

The members of the Action Committee and Congress workers blocked the car of Yeddyurappa while he was heading to the residence of former MP K Virupakshappa. They said that the BJP-led government at the Centre had meted out injustice to Raichur in not sanctioning the IIT and accused the State BJP leaders of following contradictory policies on the issue.

The protesters, who submitted a memorandum to Yeddyurappa said that former chief minister Jagadish Shetter and BJP State president Pralhad Joshi had got sanctioned the IIT to Dharwad thus cheating the people of Hyderabad Karnataka. Yeddyurappa told the protesters that they were making a judicious demand and declared his support to their struggle. However, he blamed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for recommending three districts for setting up of IIT.
