Bypoll to 3 Council seats on October 3

The elections to three vacant seats in the Legislative Council will be held on October 3.

The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule of the polls to fill up vacancies.

The seats fell vacant on May 16, when G Parameshwara, now Deputy Chief Minister of the Congress as well as K S Eshwarappa and
V Somanna of the BJP resigned after getting elected to the Legislative Assembly.

The EC announced that the notification for the by-election would be issued on Friday.

The candidates can file nominations till September 22 and withdraw them by September 26. The nominations will be scrutinised on September 24, said the poll panel.

The polling will take place from 9 am to 4 pm on October 3. The counting of votes will begin at 5 pm the same day, the EC announced.

The by-election to fill the vacancy created in the Legislative Council of Maharashtra due to the death of Pandurang Pundlik Fundkar will also be held on October 3.
