GT Devegowda unhappy with Higher Education portfolio

Senior JD(S) leader G T Devegowda on Saturday made his displeasure known over the allocation of Higher Education portfolio.

"I was hoping for a portfolio, which would give me an opportunity to mix and mingle with people. I thought I would be entrusted with Revenue or Transport. But they allocated me Higher Education. This despite the fact that I did not have college education," Devegowda, who remained incommunicado on Saturday, is what have confided to his close aides.

Meanwhile, Devegowda's supporters and the local party workers staged a protest in front of their leader's house at Vijayanagara over the portfolio row.

The agitators told Devegowda's son G D Harish that GTD should not accept the Higher Education portfolio at any cost.

Reacting to it, Harish said that he would bring the request of JD(S) workers and GTD's supporters to the notice of Kumaraswamy. "I am confident that the chief minister will change GTD's portfolio soon," he added.
