CM reneges on his promise to cops

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has gone back on his promise to policemen to increase the salary by implementing the recommendations of ADGP Raghavendra H Auradkar committee report.

The chief minister had promised to hike the salaries of policemen during the Belagavi session. He had also said that he would introduce and revise, conveyance allowance, hardship allowance, uniform allowance, fatigue allowance and fitness allowance. However, the budget has no mention of these goodies - except a hike in risk allowance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 only for police constables.

The salary of a newly recruited constable is Rs 21,400, which lesser than any security guard of an IT company, a policeman said.
