CM to resume office from tomorrow

After hectic electioneering over the past month, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will resume his official duties on Friday.

On Wednesday, Kumaraswamy along with JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda offered last respects to party workers who died in the recent bomb attack in Sri Lanka.

According to sources in the Chief Minister's Office, he will take a break on Thursday before returning to work. On Friday, he is scheduled to chair meetings of key departments including Revenue department.

MCC in force

Despite the end of polling in Karnataka, the model code of conduct (MCC) will continue till counting day on May 23. According to K G Jagadeesh, additional chief electoral officer, despite MCC being in effect the state government can sanction new projects with prior permission from the Election Commission.

"EC has already permitted the state to float new tenders for projects in the state," he said, adding that any new initiative that might violate MCC will require EC's permission.
