Coalition govt will collapse in a week: Katti

BJP leader Umesh Katti on Wednesday dropped a bombshell saying the JD(S)-Congress coalition government will collapse within a week and that the BJP would form the government.

Speaking to reporters here, the former minister said, “As many as 15 disgruntled MLAs from the rival parties are in touch with us. I will not reveal their names now. We are not conducting Operation Kamala. However, we will welcome the disgruntled MLAs from the ruling dispensation and form the government,” Katti said.

To a query on whether Ramesh Jarkiholi, who was axed from Kumaraswamy’s ministry last week, would join the BJP, Katti said, “Ramesh Jarkiholi is my friend. We will welcome if he (Jarkiholi), and M B Patil join the BJP fold. Nothing wrong if Ramesh Jarkiholi meets BJP national president Amit Shah. Yeddyurappa will not hold any secret meeting with Ramesh Jarkiholi.”

Rao dares BJP MLA

Meanwhile, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao came down heavily on Katti for his remark that the coalition government would collapse. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Rao demanded Katti’s resignation if his prediction did not materialise.

“If the government doesn’t collapse, then Katti will have to resign - if he has the guts. It’s wrong to create confusion among people in this manner. Stop giving such imaginative statements. He shouldn’t speak about things that are impossible. He is a senior. He should stop talking gibberish,” Katti added.
