Coalition MLAs have lost faith in govt: Eshwarappa

Last Updated 03 April 2019, 18:21 IST

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader and MLA K S Eshwarappa said that the leaders of Congress and JD(S) coalition have failed to keep their MLAs in control and the latter have lost faith in the government. There is no need for BJP to implement ‘Operation Lotus’, he said.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Eshwarappa said, question of BJP implementing Operation Lotus does not arise as MLAs dissatisfied with the government. Earlier they were fearing that their resignations could be accepted or not, but Chincholi MLA Umesh Jadhav’s resignation has been accepted and dissatisfied MLAs will tender their resignations, he predicted.

He said that he is unaware of the number of MLAs from Congress and JD(S) prepared to resign, but is sure that they will quit as MLAs.

Taking a dig at Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah, Eshwarappa said the latter is involved in caste politics and questioned his contribution to the Kuruba community, to which both of them belong.

He said A H Vishwanath and G Shankar have been cheated by Siddaramaiah.

"I am a nationalist, but not a leader of Kuruba community. Siddaramaiah is casteist and the community has not progressed under him. BJP has implemented many programmes for the welfare of backward classes and minorities and Siddaramaiah should have come out with a white paper of his contributions for the Backward Classes," he said.

Kuruba community was being utilised as vote bank by Siddaramaiah, he alleged.

He took a dig at JD(S) and Congress for raising the caste issue of Sumalatha in Mandya. People will give a fitting reply to this, he said.
