Cong leaders bat for B’lore Central, Bidar for Rahul

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be formally invited to contest from Karnataka during his rally at Kalaburagi on March 18, even as party leaders locally have discussed three seats as suitable for him, including Mysore, Bangalore Central and Bidar.

The state Congress leaders have already started a campaign, rallying for Rahul to contest from Karnataka where his grandmother Indira Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi have won.

Rahul is scheduled to address a rally in Kalaburagi and interact with entrepreneurs and software professionals in Bengaluru on March 18.

“South India is largely going anti-Modi, especially Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. It is only in Karnataka where the BJP is pushing hard. If Rahul comes to Karnataka, the anti-Modi sentiment will grow. For Rahul’s stature, any seat will be comfortable,” Congress MLC Rizwan Arshad said.
