Crash jams traffic on Bellary road

There was a heavy vehicle ham in front of the Veterinary College and opposite the office of DCP (West) Traffic between 11.10 am and 11.55 am, with a gridlock on both sides of the magic boxes - Anand Nagar and CBI office. Air travelers were forced to wait until police swung into action and cleared the vehicles involved in the accident.

In a desperate attempt to find a way out, the commuters took various possible alternatives to bypass the Hebbal flyover and got stuck on the adjoining peripheral roads. As a result, the Sanjay Nagar main road, Bhoopasandra witnessed huge traffic flow.

Vehicles were lined up at the railway crossing near the Ring Road (near Hebbal railway station). Extra traffic policemen were pressed into action at the signal light junction where the vehicles take a right turn to approach the ring road and hit the Bangalore-Bellary road again.

Liquor sale banned

The City police have banned liquor sale in Commercial Street, Shivajinagar, Bharathinagar, Pulakeshinagar and Ulsoor police limits from 9 am to 9 pm on Sunday in view of Ganesha idol immersion procession.

Hindu Jagarana Vedike has organised a procession of nearly 70 Ganesha idols from RBANMS school ground from 2 pm onwards. Ganesha idols in and around Shivajinagar will be taken in another procession which will join the main procession at RBANMS School ground.

Anti-social elements and miscreants are likely to create law and order problem by consuming liquor and participating in the procession. Hence, the police decided to the ban liquor sale, says a press release issued by City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari.
11 held for murder

Srirampura police have arrested 11 persons in connection with the recent murder of woman recently.  The suspects are Vinod from Srinagar, Karna from Hosur in Tamil Nadu, Vedi, Selva, Babu, Sridhar, Arun, L Janardhan, Manoj Kumar, all from from Srirampura, Ramesh and Mani from Magadi Road.

The suspects attacked Puspha (45) with lethal weapons in front of Vinayak Stores on Srirampura seventh Main Road on the evening of July 25 and had fled. They killed Pushpa reportedly due to an old rivalry. The police had constituted a special team to arrest the suspects following the murder.

Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian died on the spot when he was knocked down by a four-wheeler on BIAL Road on Friday night.

Yelahanka traffic police said that the victim Farooz (40), was a truck driver and a native of Hyderabad, was crossing the road to go to his in-laws’ house in Hegde Nagar. A four-wheeler knocked him down, killing him on the spot.
