Dasara Air show set to take flight, enthral visitors

Mysureans, as well as visitors to the city, will get a chance to be a part of the popular Air show, held at Banimantap Grounds. The authorities of Indian Air Force will perform a variety of events on Sunday.

Three events will be held on the day, including slithering, skydiving and showering petals from the aircraft, which is sure to thrill the audience during the air show. According to Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, the air show will be held for one hour between 11 am and 12 noon.

Skydiving will be performed by team Akash Ganga from Agra. The nine-member team and one officer would perform the stunts from a height of 1,130 ft. Similarly, slithering will be performed by a team of 10 members of Garud Troop. Wing Commander Gajanand Yadav of IAF will lead the team of skydivers and Sergeant Gaurav would lead Garud team.

Two IAF MI17 helicopters will participate in the air show. The flights will operate from Bengaluru. The Air Display Control Team at Mysuru would be provided by Air Force, Yelahanka, Bengaluru. The team would comprise one pilot, three airmen, including Air Field Safety Operator (AFSO), one meteorological assistant and one RTO. All the requisite equipment of a standard Helipad Safety Team as well as the projected requirements of Akash Ganga team, have been deployed at Mysuru.

The teams will conduct rehearsals on Saturday at 11 am. The authorities of Air Force conducted a preliminary check at Bannimantap grounds on Friday.
