‘B’ team remark: Deve Gowda hits out at Rahul

Former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Sunday said JD(S) will form the government and the party will strengthen itself in the coming days.

Speaking to reporters at a private hotel in the city, Deve Gowda said, the party will form the government with the support of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He also pointed out that corruption was rampant during the tenure of BJP and Congress governments.

On AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s comment that the JD(S) was the ‘B’ team of the BJP, Deve Gowda said when BSP’s Mayawati, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu have extended their support to JD(S), how can Rahul term the party as ‘B’ team of BJP. “Rahul is innocent and he only reads a copy written by others on the dais,” he said. Congress leaders are trying to taint the party and H D Kumaraswamy’s image, he alleged.

Commenting on the Income Tax Department raids in the state, he said, it is a regular process and has no connection with the elections.

Gowda said Congress was responsible for Datta Peetha controversy. The issue took birth during the tenure of S M Krishna as chief minister and D B Chandregowda as law minister. “But today, both the leaders are with BJP,” he said.
