10 roads identified for widening in Mysuru

With the increase in traffic density, MUDA has identified 10 prominent roads in the city for widening and further development at an estimated cost of Rs 2,633.50 lakh. An amount of Rs 1,960.74 lakh has already been set aside for the purpose.

Reading out the outlay for the year 2016-17, MUDA Commissioner Y Mahesh said that apart from widening the roads, medians will be installed to ensure smooth traffic. 

The roads identified for widening are: Dr B R Ambedkar Road (Ballal Circle to Ashokapuram Road linking Mananthavadi Road (behind NIE college), Mysuru-Mananthavadi main road to JP Nagar first stage and railway crossing, Vivekananda Circle, Srirampura to Lingambudhi Palya link road, Cauvery Circle, Srirampura second stage, Srirampura first cross,  Hebbal Kalyan Mantap to Outer Ring Road junction passing through water tank, Vijayanagar first stage, Yadavgiri Circle to Jawa Apartments road passing through Anjaneya Swamy temple, behind Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, linking MG Road in Udayagiri to Rajiv Nagar, NR Mohalla, bridge near Devanur lake road to Narayana Hrudayalaya, either side of High Tension line from PF office to Dr Rajkumar Road and Harishchandra Ghat Road between Madakari Nayaka circle and Triveni Circle at Kyatamaranahalli.

A road-under-bridge (RUB) has been planned at the intersection of  Outer Ring Road and Bannur Road, while grade separators have been planned on Outer Ring Road junctions connecting T Narsipur, Nanjangud, HD Kote and Basavanahalli Road junctions. RUBs are also planned on the Outer Ring Roads on Mysuru-Hassan section, Chamarajanagar section, Bengaluru and RBI site sections. 

Outer peripheral roadAs proposed in the revised comprehensive development plan (CDP) outer peripheral road will be built and a sum of Rs 500 lakh has been earmarked for survey of road works in the new fiscal. 

It will be planned for 25 years in advance, taking into cognisance city development, traffic density and also population.

To buy land from Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) for new drinking water project, an estimated Rs 500 lakh has been set aside. Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board has plans to take up new drinking water project tapping water source from Cauvery river near Hale Undavadi village at KRS to supply water to Mysuru city.

Solar power plantIt is intended to set up 4 MW-solar power plant on vacant sites near Outer Ring Road. The purpose is to utilise unconventional energy for own and sell the additional energy to energy department.

Machines in dhobi ghatsThe existing dhobi ghats at Saraswatipuram and Yadavgiri will be developed and washing machines will be installed. An amount of Rs 90 lakh has been set aside with Rs 120 lakh estimated for overall works.DH News Service
