3 held for robbing Kerala bizman

The Town Police were successful in nabbing three out of six accused, who had allegedly robbed a Kerala businessman, threatening him with lethal weapons here on Tuesday.

The arrested are Yashwanth Kumar, son of Mariswamy, K P Sachin, son of Puttegowda, and K R Manjunath, son of Ramalingegowda, all residents of Kalenahalli in Mandya taluk. Three of their accomplices, who are still at large are Darshan, Durgesh and Lankesh.

Speaking to reporters, CPI Chandrashekar said, the police have spread a net to trap the other accused. A Tata Indica car, one long (a weapon), three knives, three monkey caps and two mobile phones used for the crime have been seized. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.

The accused had threatened a Kerala vegetable trader, Jayaprakash, with lethal weapons at a dhaba near Gananguru village on June 17 and had robbed him of Rs 6,500 in cash, an ATM card and two mobile phones. Jayaprakash, who was returning after a business from Bengaluru, had halted for a brief while at the dhaba, when the incident occurred.
