JOIN USAam Aadmi Party (AAP), Mysuru, has demanded action against the miscreants who indulged in violence during the bandh in Mysuru on Monday, and ransacked properties despite prohibitory orders being in force.
In a separate memoranda, submitted to Deputy Commissioner C Shikha and Police Commissioner B Dayananda, a copy of which was circulated to the media, advocate P P Baburaj, in-charge of political affairs with AAP, has described the bandh call as a violation of Supreme Court (SC) order.
Calling for bandh is totally banned according to the Apex court order by a bench of judges on July 28, 1988. The bench, headed by then Chief Justice of India J S Verma comprising B N Kripal and V N Khare had passed the order.
In the year 2004, the SC had imposed a penalty on the BJP and Shiv Sena for calling for Mumbai bandh in protest against the terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
Accordingly, the city police should initiate action against the rioters for disturbing peace and assaulting innocents, including journalists, as evident with the reports streamed on the electronic media.
At the same time, according to Baburaj, it was unfair on the part of the police to grant permission to take the body of the deceased person (Raju) in a procession. In a way, it triggered clashes between two communities, the release stated.
