BSNL launches Wi Max services in Chikkaballapur

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) launched Wi Max services for the first time in the district, in a bid to enhance broadband internet services, in Chikkaballapur on Monday.

The Wi Max services can be availed by installing an antenna within a radius of 15 km. The use of cable to access internet services is completely ruled out.

The BSNL has introduced the new services to extend internet services to rural areas.
“People residing in rural areas, organisations and those houses that are located near National Highways can easily avail internet services without the cable,” said BSNL Sub Zone officer Sudarshan Poojar.

To avail Wi Max services one needs to install an antenna. Government officers, schools, colleges and private institutions too can avail the Wi Max services, he added.

The consumers instead of buying a modem need to a buy an antenna for Rs 2,500.

Moreover, the amount can be paid in installments of Rs 500 every month, said Assistant General Manager  T H Channakrishnappa.

The Wi Max services which is being launched in the district for the first time will later be extended to Chintamani, Gowribidanur, Shidlaghatta, Bagepalli and Gudibande. In the first phase services will be provided to as many as 200 consumers, he added.
