Chikkamagaluru DC warns of stringent action against officials

Last Updated 28 June 2017, 18:50 IST

Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner G Satyavathi lambasted the officials for exhibiting the lethargic attitude towards public work at the assistant commissioner’s office in Tarikere on Wednesday.

During a public grievance redressal meeting, she noted that the requests by the senior citizens to the competent authority to conduct a survey and mark the land have been kept pending.

The land in which Yallamma from Shivani village, had been residing since 1972, has been cleared by the concerned officials after marking it as a gomala land. Yallama had requested the taluk office to mark a land. But the officials kept her file pending, stating that there are no surveyors.

Taking the officials to task, the deputy commissioner said that she might have to send the officials home if the same negligent attitude is continued.

Stone quarrying

Villagers of Shivapura complained that permission has been given to illegal stone quarrying in Navilugudde. The deputy commissioner  said the district administration has not given any permission. The Mining and Geology department has been asked to submit a report on the same. Action will be initiated accordingly, she said.

A complaint was also submitted against Bukkambudi gram panchayat president Maheshwarappa and other members who have encroached a gomala land in Jodi Jayapura.

The deputy commissioner  directed the officials to lodge criminal cases against those who encroach government land.

‘Clear illegal shops’

Receiving a memorandum from some merchants, the deputy commissioner  told the Town Municipal Corporation chief officer to clear the illegal petty shops near Sarja Hanumappa Nayaka bus stand.

Around 70 people submitted complaints to the deputy commissioner at the meeting.
Speaking to reporters, DC Satyavathi said that the government workers should understand the value of their work and should fulfil the responsibility of solving the problems. Revenue department files are marred by delays due to technical reasons, she said. Grievance redressal meets will be held one in 15 days, she said.

Acting tahsildar Tanuja, taluk panchayat executive officer Gangadharamurthy and other officials were present in the meeting.
