Chikkamagaluru likely to get hi-tech bus stand

The state government is mulling over developing a KSRTC hi-tech bus stand in Chikkamagaluru, said Transport Minister H M Revanna.

He was speaking after inspecting the KSRTC bus shelter in Chikkamagaluru on Monday. "The old jail land has been sanctioned to KSRTC in Chikkamagaluru. Using the available KSRTC bus stand land and the sanctioned land, the government is planning to construct a hi-tech bus shelter."

There is a demand to provide bus facilities to hilly ranges in Chikkamagaluru. The demand will be met shortly and the officials have been asked to carry out a route survey, the minister said.

Kyathanabeedu resident Channe Gowda appealed to the minister to provide bus facilities to Javagal via Lakya at 6.30 pm.

The Transport Minister replied saying that a depot will be set up in Sringeri. A sleeper bus from Chikkamagaluru to various destinations will be introduced.

Speaking to KSRTC officials, he said: "the officials should look into the demand for sleeper buses."

The demand on shifting of KSRTC depot in Arasikere, developing a bus shelter at Kanakatte and D M Kurke will be verified before taking a call, said the minister.

He said that he has asked for the withdrawal of suspension order of employees who had taken part in the protest.
