This is the pathetic state at third cross, 14th main in Saraswathipuram in the city, where the water users are forced to consume water, though allegedly unfit after boiling the same. One such victim Jagadish told Deccan Herald even after lodging oral complaint to the authorities concerned, the woe continues.

As a result 40 houses are affected and have been silently suffering for the past one month, he alleged further. The trouble began when Jamshedpur Utilities and Supplies Company (Jusco) limited dug a trench to relay water pipes. Following day, water with soil contents began to flow from the taps.

It has become the order of the day, with initial 20 minutes reserved for collecting contaminated water. It’s only after that, pure water begins to flow, but unsure of hygiene. Jagadish expressed doubts over water getting mixed with that of drainage, when Jusco took up the work.
Strangely, when the matter was brought to the notice of local Corporator R Lingappa he was ready with the answer- to look into the grievance, but yet to take serious note of it. When the complaints reached its peak,  Jusco men collected water samples and also confirmed contamination of water, but to no avail. When contacted an officer on condition of anonymity told this paper that Jusco is at it to check the source of contamination.

On Sunday too, they disconnected the supply at few places and did a trial, but in vain.
He exuded confidence that the complaint will be addressed by Sunday (September 18).
