CPI stages stir against Govt

Addressing the CPI activists who took out a protest jatha here on Wednesday, he said the prices of daily use commodities are skyrocketing day by day.

The government should cut fuel prices immediately which will automatically reduce the prices of daily use commodities. The PDS should be enforced properly. The income limit for the BPL should be increased to Rs 50,000, he urged.

Austin also said the government should emphasise more on implementing the Forest Dwellers’ Rights Act. He said the government should rush to the rescue of the farmers who are in crisis due to natural calamities.

He appealed the government to form Akrama-Sakrama committees at the earliest to deliver justice to thousands of poor families who are eagerly awaiting their title deeds for several years.

There are large vacancies in all government offices and educational institutions in the State. The government should take steps to fill all the vacant posts. In the meantime, the problems in the public health centres should also be addressed properly, he said and interference of MLAs in the administration of local bodies should be stopped.
