Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda  has said that the Third Front is growing strong and will play a vital role in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The NDA and UPA will fail to reach the magic number to form the government at the centre.

Speaking to medispersons here on Friday, he said that the UPA governments and the NDA government had failed in the past. The voters have been watching the performance of the UPA government in the last 10 years.

“People are aware of conspiracy of the Congress against me and Chandrashekar in the past. The national parties make use of us for their needs,” he added.

To a query on strategy of the Third Front, he said that 11 political parties of the Third Front will formulate strategies in the respective states. The issue of leadership will be decided after the election.

“Voters can not be carried away by posing for photographs with tea stalls . Like Modi, several Chief Ministers have given good administration in the country. By being a Gujarath CM, Modi can not become the Prime Minister. I do not understand the logic behind media portraying him as the future PM,” he said.

Later speaking after laying foundation for development works at Yagati hobli, he said  “I had paved away for development of villages as a Prime Minister.”

“Villages suffer from lack of drinking water facilities, road and basic facilities. We need to understand the problems faced by farmers,” he said.

MLA Y S V Datta said that a few rural roads have not seen asphaltation for the last five decades in the taluk.

The foundation was laid for developing 17 km road from Yagati-Harisamudra-Bhairagondanahalli-Chinakaranahalli under PMGSY.

The road will be developed at a cost of Rs 10 crore. Rs 3.50 crore has been released to mitigate drinking water woes in the taluk.

The foundation for long pending demand for Basavana Theertha check dam across Veda river at Yagatipura has been laid. The check dam will irrigate 60 acre farm land.
