Deve Gowda takes on Modi, Congress

‘All departments performed well during HDK’s term as CM’

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda continued his tirade against BJP leader Narendra Modi at a public meeting in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, on Monday.

Alleging that Modi’s name as the prime ministerial candidate had been proposed by influential industrialists and business tycoons of Gujarat, Gowda said that though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a honest leader, he was considered weak by these industrialists, who had selected Modi for their gains.  He once again predicted that no party would gain majority. “A Third Front and your Deve Gowda will play a major role in forming the government,” he added.

Family

Those who had attacked JD(S) as a family party, had not raised their voice against Congress party, which was ruled by a family of politicians like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi. Are they from different families, he questioned.

JD(S) has been enjoying the support of people belonging to Veerashaiva community, Kurubas, Muslims and others, as it had strived for their overall development, he stated.MLA H D Revanna who spoke on the occasion pointed out that it was Gowda who introduced rice at Rs three per kilo during his tenure as the prime minister.

He slammed Siddaramaiah for introducing several projects keeping in mind the Lok Sabha polls. The people of the State were aware that all the departments had performed well during the tenure of H D Kumaraswamy, ably guided by Deve Gowda.

Bhavani Revanna said that as the Congress party did not have any achievements to highlight, it had been targeting JD(S). “Let them talk, we will work for the betterment of the district,” she said. Channamma Deve Gowda, Prajwal Revanna and other leaders were present.
