JOIN USThe district administration has planned to sell sand through Nirmiti Kendra at Rs 75 for 50 kg. The sale will begin on Sunday.
Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Jain said that priority will be given for those constructing toilet under Swachh Bharat scheme and also the beneficiaries of Ashraya scheme. The purchasers will have to furnish documents for having taken up the construction. The same quantity of sand will be sold at Rs 125 for private purposes. The sand will be collected from river banks and processed before sale.
The DC said that this was a first-of-its-kind project in the country where the district administration directly sells sand at subsidised rates. To begin with, the facility will be made available at the district centre and later extended to all taluks, he added.
