In an interaction with the media persons at his office on Friday, Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal who is also the working president of Dasara Procession Sub-committee said, they are pondering over making the area around howdah elephant during the offering of flower petals to the idol of goddess Chamundeshwari, in the palace premises, zero tolerance zone.

This helps in cutting down the number of unwanted people who will be swarming around the howdah elephant, unmindful of coming in the way of spectators view.

Opinions
Taking a first step in this regard, the Police Commissioner sought the opinions of media persons to bring in such disciplined and viewer friendly measures.
It may be either in the form of restricting the unwanted gathering of police or also media persons, for whom specific place will be allotted to help them carry on their job with ease.
The Police Commissioner said, the height of the elevated platform that will be put up every year in front of the Palace to facilitate VIPs to offer flower petals to the howdah will be shortened this year thus making the view clear for those seated on the right side of the platform.

Similarly, unlike previous years, the movement of cops around tableau, cultural troupes and artistes will be restricted. Torchlight parade, another much awaited event of that day after the culmination of ‘jamboo savari’ may also see some changes in arrangements, said Agarwal.
