KJP Publicity Committee President Dhananjay Kumar has said that the KJP will contest the elections to all the urban local bodies in Karnataka independntly.

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said that the ULBs elections will help the KJP to organise the party in the state before the forthcoming Assembly elections. It will help the party to know the mood of the voters as well.

The results of ULBs will be help the party to prepare for the Assembly elections. “We may not contest all the seats. But will make an effort to contest in almost all the TMCs, CMCs, Corporations and Town Panchayats,” he said.

Stating that the State Election Commission has recognised the KJP as a regional party, he said a gazette notification on the same has been issued on February 5.

“We are making full preparations for the elections and the candidates will be finalised shortly. KJP State President B S Yeddyurappa has already started touring the districts, to look into the preparations for the elections,” he added.  “Atleast 40 per cent of the seats in the ULBs will be won by the KJP,” he added.

“A few BJP and Congress leaders have shown keen inclination to join the KJP. We will welcome all those who are ready to join the KJP. We are not forcing anyone to join the KJP,” he said.

District committee

Kumar said that Kallekkar Guthu Ravindra Shetty has been appointed as the KJP DK district unit president. Other office-bearers are: Vice presidents—Gokuldas Bhandary, Dr Lawrence D’Souza, Shivappa, Abdul Khader, Bhaskar Rao, Ashok Kumar Jain; General secretary—Bhaskar Poojary, Aboobakkar Kairangalam Guruchandra Hegde.

Udupi

In a seperate press meet in Udupi on Sunday, Kumar said that the KJP will contest all 95 seats in four ULBs in Udupi district. A full-fledged district committee will be constituted once the election is over.

Four teams have been constituted to monitor the preparations for the elections in Udupi, Karkala, Kundapur and Saligrama. Ashok Kumar Shetty will head the team in Udupi, Vijay Kumar in Karkala, Chandrasekhar Kamath in Karkala and Sheeriyar Muddanna Shetty in Kundapur.

Alleging that the development in the State has come to a standstill, Kumar said that the utilisation of funds under budgetary allocations has not crossed 40 per cent by the end of December. There is instability in the state. Karnataka government’s decision to release water to Tamil Nadu should be flayed. CM Jagdish Shettar should resign if he is incompetent to protect the rights in the interest of the state.

Ananth Kumar flayed

He alleged that Ananth Kumar is the main traitor in the BJP who is trying to eliminate all the probable CM candidates in the party.

He wants to become Chief Minister. He said that former Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty is committing a mistake by delaying his decisions to join any political party.
