Kolar district gets new crop insurance scheme

The new facility is available at five hoblis in Bangarpet taluk for grape and mango, seven taluks of Kolar district and all hoblis in Mulbagal taluk for potato (irrigated), and for mango in five hoblis of Srinivaspur taluk.

The insurance has been made mandatory for farmers who have obtained crop loans. Other farmers can opt either for weather-based insurance or National Agriculture Insurance Scheme. Farmers who have not availed crop loan should pay the premium before December 12 and for others it is Nov 30.

More information can be obtained from the nearest Raitha Samparka Kendra or office of the Horticulture Department, according to a press release by Joint Director of Agriculture Department.
